This past weekend, I went location scouting again. I wanted to find a secluded urban environment with interesting textures. I remembered an entrance to the L.A. River down the street from my old studio. It’s under the 4th Street Bridge, down the street from Villain’s Tavern in the Arts District. A few of us would wander down there after Happy Hour every now and then. Great location and the area provides a nice backdrop. All the industrial girders from the bridge overhead are exposed and enormous. The concrete tunnels offer great opportunities for dynamic lighting. The location also has a great view of Downtown, which is the best part!
The only problem …
The further I went down, the more I came to realize that this wasn’t so secluded after all! Seems like every other photographer knows of this place. There were multiple fashion shoots happening at once, headshot photography, personal projects, and even a college photography class!
Oh well, the scouting continues. I did manage to take a couple shots in the midst of all that was happening.
