April 9th marks the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War. In 1865, General Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant at the home of Wilmer McLean in Appomattox, Virginia. You can read a great but brief story about it here. Before the snow came last winter, I got to travel to Virgina to shoot this great area for Hallowed Ground. It was an amazing experience and really fun to shoot. I’ve never been to Virginia before that so it was fun to explore. A special thanks to the Civil War Trust for a great new tear sheet! The new issue of Hallowed Ground is out now with my photos from my time in Virgina. And I even made the cover!
You can see some of my work in the Winter issue here.
